Color Code is an alt-rock band from Kansas City: with Josh Fowler on vocals, Corbin Anderon on guitar, Jacob Sixta on guitar, and Kay Manchion on drums, the band released their debut EP ‘Feelin’ Fine’ on March 27.

Prior to releasing the EP, the band released the songs “Start Again” (November 2024) and later the title track “Feelin’ Fine” as singles.

Recently the band played their debut show at VIVO last Sunday, May 18.

Their next show will be Stratgazer’s Rock The Warehouse with Burn The Gates, Spaceborne Killers, Atypical, Dirty Blvd, Easy Tiger, and Fritsy on June 21.

I interviewed the band about the EP, their songwriting process, and what is next for the band:

LP: How did Color Code get started? How did everyone join the band?

Color Code: Josh (vocals) and Corbin (guitar) formed Color Code in 2020 and began writing music for their debut release. Jacob (guitar) joined in 2023, and Kay (drums) joined in 2024.

LP: Who are you influenced by?

Color Code: Our band is influenced by early 2000s rock/metal bands as well as modern alternative rock and pop-punk.

LP: What was the writing/recording process like?

Color Code: Corbin and Josh wrote the five songs for the EP ‘Feeling Fine’. The band recorded them with Kevin Gates at Reach Audio in Springfield, Missouri over the course of two years. Recording the songs with Kevin is always really fun and productive. He takes his time to make sure everything is perfect and pushes us to improve with every take.

LP: What is each member’s favorite song off the EP?

Color Code:

Josh - “Start Again”

Corbin - “Monochrome”

Jacob - “Feelin’ Fine”

Kay - “Monochrome”

LP: What’s next for the band?

Color Code: The band has two singles they will be releasing in the near future, as well as demos that are ready to be recorded. They plan to play shows regionally throughout the summer and fall.
