This week's newest releases include Stone Eagle's "Roscoe Red," DeeOhGee's "Rise," Chaos in Red's "Phone Home," and [SPACE] Jockey's "Brain Dead."
Stone Eagle, the 4-piece American Hard Rock & Blues band from Kansas City, released their single "Roscoe Red" on Friday, January 23. This was a song that I got to hear way in advance prior to the release, and I am super glad that this song is FINALLY released! The first time that I ever heard this song, it gave me 'driving through the desert' vibes. This bluesy southern-rock sound showcases the band's strength and influences of '70s and '90s rock'n'roll together.
DeeOhGee was one of the first bands who I reviewed back in 2019. Their newest song "Rise" is grittier than their previous singles. The first thing that stood out to me was the bass groove that carries the track. This power trio from Nashville has consistently released intriguing songs; if you dig power trios who aren't afraid to venture into rock-adjacent territory of blues, country, and, of course, pure rock'n'roll, then DeeOhGee is for you.
Chaos in Red has a softer sound than what I expected from their name, but their single "Phone Home" was a nice surprise. There is beauty in this vessel of a song through the acoustic guitar and harmonies.
The band [SPACE] Jockey released their single "Brain Dead" on Friday. This is one of their most recent singles with their newest vocalist Cheyenne. I first saw this lineup back in May at VooDoo Lounge in Kansas City as part of Ramona Clay's "The Things We Don't Talk About" album release show. [SPACE] Jockey is one of those bands who has a lot of fun rhythms and dynamic parts interchanging within the same track; if you zone out and listen to only one part or any part, you’ll find something that is not only catchy but complex. . . I recommend them to ANYONE regardless of what genre of music you enjoy.
