Full Stack Fury is a Kansas City-based band who I first saw in June at the Shawnee Aztec Theater. The band exuded dynamic energy! It was also the band's release show for their EP "Three For The Road."

Full Stack Fury is guitarist Brandon Murphey, bassist Billy Wayne, drummer Jared Gulbranson, and lead vocalist Derek Bowen.

I interviewed the band recently about their band history and memories.

Their next show will be on May 10 at the Shawnee Aztec Theater with 80s Babies and Retro Grade School.

LP: How did the band start?/How did everyone join?

Brandon: Derek and I were doing karaoke one night at a bar close to our houses. I was sitting there sipping my whisky and coke watching Derek do his karaoke thing. And all of a sudden it hit me: I'm thinking to myself, “Damn, Derek is a pretty good singer - if he and I put a band together, I bet it would be pretty good.”

After I convinced him, through demonstrations of my guitar playing and writing ability, he joined up. We became the founders of the band. Derek knew Billy Wayne and I knew Jared. The four of us became Full Stack Fury.

LP: What are the origins behind the band name?

Full Stack Fury: Derek came up with the name because of Brandon’s wall to wall speaker stacks in the band room.

LP: Let’s talk about your latest EP “Three For The Road.” What was the recording / writing process like?

FSF: “Three For The Road” was an easy process. Our chemistry is to credit the smoothness of our collective collaborations of arrangements.

LP: What is your favorite memory as a band?

FSF: So far it was opening for Faster Pussycat at the Voodoo. Great energy from all the bands that night.

LP: Describe your typical live show.

FSF: Typical show is high energy party rock show.

LP: What’s next for you as a band?

FSF: We are currently writing our second full length album. 🤘
