An Interview with Mindless Vitality

Mindless Vitality, a rock band from Colorado Springs, has announced that they will be touring throughout the Midwest in March and April.

I interviewed the band about the upcoming tour and their most recent single "At Least."

LP: How did you get started as a band/how did everyone join?

Mindless Vitality: Well Max and I (Joseph) have been playing music together for years now! Since eighth grade we’ve been in various bands and projects together so when it came to forming a band of our own it was a piece of cake.

Haydan has been playing drums pretty much all of his life, so when it was time for us to look for a new drummer, Haydan’s skills stood out to us like no one else. Haydan joined in April of 2024, and we’ve been nonstop since!!

LP: Who are your influences?

MV: This question is the hardest one to answer for us ‘cause our influences would fit on a mile long list. All three of us listen to so many different artists and genres, but to simplify it down to three bands we’d have to say Highly Suspect, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana.

LP: What are the origins behind the band name?

MV: When I was 18, I was sitting in my car thinking of new names for a band. I wanted the name to be something catchy, but I knew I wanted it to be easy to remember and use and say. I started thinking about ways our personalities and music could represent a name. And Mindless Vitality was one of the names that was written down. When people ask, “What does it mean it?”, I like to start off with the definition of vitality - the state of being strong and active; energy. That represents our music and mindless represents our personalities.

LP: Tell me about your most recent single “At Least.”

MV: Our most recent single “At Least” was recorded at Sunshine Studios in Colorado Springs, CO by producer Scott Wilson of Saving Abel. It was released in July of 2024 and has gotten plays all over America and was on the top 10 played songs on a radio station in Australia for 2 weeks.

LP: How are you feeling about the upcoming tour?

MV: We all are so excited for this upcoming tour; we can’t wait to head to Nashville; we can’t wait to see our management family JPS Productions! Every day we are getting ready to make this tour the best it can possibly be.
