On September 21, Ashley Sherlock released a new single called “If You’re Listening.” It was the first song of the band I had heard, but it was a wonderful introduction. It is more mellow in style than their song “Been Here Before” which had been released earlier this year. “If You’re Listening” still keeps the guitar-oriented and driven sound, but it allows for the vocals to shine through in a softer light. It was entirely self-produced by the band, with Ashley Sherlock on vocals & guitar, Danny Rigg on drums, and Charlie Kay on bass. The band had previously recorded in Nashville (which was an interesting anecdote as the band is from England) with Framing Hanley. What I have heard of Ashley Sherlock’s music is really quite something - driving rock n roll, shifting from the waves of blues and hard rock alike.
Yesterday, the band released the song “Worry,” for World Mental Health Day. It is a raw emotional song that still carries all the power and drive that has been exhibited in the band’s material. Ashley Sherlock’s post about the song states,
“With the current situation a lot of people are struggling more so than ever and it’s important that we take a moment to focus on ourselves and look out for each other.
This song was never meant to be released; it was some words I had written down somewhere but we as a band felt it was important that we share it with you all. It’s a snippet of my own story and a song that means a lot.”

The song was recorded and produced by Danny Rigg, and mastered by Pete Maher with artwork by Naomi Ashcroft. It is a simply authentic song that acknowledges doubt, fear, and worry. Ashley Sherlock makes music that has meaning and will revolve around in your head. Beautiful rock n roll that will be exciting to see what the sound evolves into - even though what they currently have is pretty damn good!
In April, Ashley Sherlock will tour with Framing Hanley.
