Gabrielle Ornate "Do You Feel?"

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

Gabrielle Ornate’s newest song “Do You Feel?” is certainly catchy - but this song is more than just one that will revolve around your head again and again.

It is an instant capture of psych-power-pop from the beginning. This sort of sound is perfect for Ornate to put her music and art out into the world as previously exhibited on her debut single “The March of the Caterpillars”. On the other hand, “Do You Feel?” is a track that jumps straight into the catchiness. Ornate’s vocals and the instrumental instantly captivate. On a surface level, the song stands out by its catchiness. But on a deeper level, the lyrics are charged and poetic. The ending is epic and partly haunting, an aspect that I have adored before in psychedelic music. It makes for a great follow-up to “The March of the Caterpillars” and continues to build on the strengths of the debut: a wonderful mix of catchiness, great vocals, and enchanting music!

I had the opportunity to have a chat with Ornate about “Do You Feel?”:

Is there a story behind the new song?

Ornate: ‘Do You Feel?’ is more an explosion of emotion than it is a story. While my debut single was more along the lines of a mythological tale, this single has a lot to say about the world at present; a mixture of existentialism and introspective passion let loose.

What do you think is the most fascinating part of music?

Ornate: I love the journey that happens when an initial idea becomes a fully formed track, taking on a life of its own and becoming a separate entity.

Are you working on future music/an album?

Ornate: I am indeed ! I’ve been keeping busy and have a few tracks up my sleeve (with the next one being released in August). Amping it up one song at a time – watch this space!
