Sheena Ross "Hibernation"

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

Sometimes a song comes along, and it just perfectly captures how you feel. Sheena Ross's song "Hibernation" is one of those; in some ways, it represents how I have felt the past week - literally wanting to hibernate due to the winter blues of Missouri, where you look outside and it is dark, dreary, and everything is covered in snow. But I have enjoyed this song before: it is just irresistible and catchy with Ross's spectacular voice!

The song was produced by Karmaliveenergy. Musically, it is a very accessible song - very upbeat and nice to dance to! Lyrically, it is a mood lifter and has such a positive feel-good emotion.

Ross says that:

"The song stems from something as basic as the seasons of the year, you know, you got winter, summer, spring, and autumn. What I've learned is that with autumn and winter seasons, you will find that most of the time people are in their homes. Even though they're going to work most of the time, they will be coming back home. There are not many people out, and in the streets, it would be quiet, and so on. This song was recorded just before we had a lockdown [winter 2020], and instead of feeling a bit of a dread of staying home, I thought that I would write a cheer-up song."

I could easily listen to this song year-round. It is indeed a very cheerful song and stands out with enough intrigue to look forward to what is next! I had first known of Sheena Ross through the music of Ese & the Vooduu People where her amazing harmonies were a delight for me! Now, I know that her own solo music is just as intriguing and something to definitely keep up with for future releases.
